This holiday season the World Convention staff and volunteers extend to you warmest Christmas wishes as we celebrate the birth of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. We join with that great company of heavenly host who proclaimed on that first Christmas:

“Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace to men

On whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2:14

Merry Christmas from Jeff and Rosemary Weston, Julia Keith and family,

Clinton J. Holloway and family, Judy and Everett Davis and Ed Dodds.

The Traditions of Christmas pamphlet available

Executive Director, Jeff Weston, has prepared a small pamphlet entitled, The Traditions of Christmas, which takes a look at the origin of the word “Christmas,” the evolution of Christmas trees, ornaments and the modern-day image of Santa Claus. The last page includes a sampling of prophecies concerning the Messiah. Anyone who wishes an electronic copy may request one by contacting Jeff at RosemaryandJeff@aol.com

Prayer Focus

Neville Muir of Deaf Ministries International has reported on damage caused to the work in the Philippines as a result of the strike of Typhoon Durian on November 30. One Deaf Ministries’ school was severely damaged with a new building and other facilities being swept completely away leaving nothing but the cement foundation. At another campus the administration building and the director’s residence were damaged and will probably have to be razed, the water tank is gone as are telephone wiring and water pipes. Coconut trees and rice fields, a major economic source for the school are lost due to the destruction of the irrigation system. Three teachers have lost their homes, others are badly damaged or covered in mud due to the landslides that followed Durian. The deaf children who were in the dormitories are all safe but many of the deaf children who commute are un-accounted for as roads and bridges have been washed away. The teachers are using motorbikes to try to reach the children in damaged areas to ascertain their safety and well being. Those wishing to make contributions to assist Deaf Ministries International at this time may send them to: Peter Pfeil, 50 Knollwood Dr., Hilton Head Island, SC 29926-2500, call (843) 682-4934, or email peter.pfeil@deafmin.org

The World Convention office will try to keep you apprised if we learn of other Stone-Campbell missions and ministries in the Philippines affected by Typhoon Durian. See the Philippines national profile at www.worldconvention.org to learn more about the work in the Philippines.
