Saleem
Massey of Pakistan Christian
Evangelical Services has reported of a successful pastors’ seminar he conducted
in Kasur, Pakistan attended by about 110 pastors. The main purpose of the
seminar, as Saleem writes, “was that all the pastors should enjoy unity, help
each other in their difficulties, and promote harmony, peace and justice in our
beloved Pakistan.” PPA, founded in 2007, currently has about 500 member pastors;
the goal is to see membership reach 1000. Professor Massey will be a featured
workshop leader for the 2008 Nashville Convention.
New Stone-Campbell Resource
Available
Alexander Campbell, Adventurer in Freedom,
Volume
II,by Eva Jean Wrather is now
available through TCU Press and the Disciples of Christ Historical Society at a
cost of $25.00. To order visit http://www.discipleshistory.org/ Volume
Two follows Campbell’s life from 1823-1830, years filled with the storm of
opinions in the pages of his successful magazine, The Christian
Baptist, which won mixed hostility and support in Baptist and Presbyterian
communities. Wrather records Campbell’s experience as a politician and delegate
to the Virginia Constitutional Convention in 1829, where Campbell brushed
shoulders with some of America’s most famous politicians and rhetoricians.
Wrather believed these years were a crucial chapter in Campbell’s life,
confirming his power as a thinker, speaker, and writer. Eva Jean completed her
comprehensive Campbell biography in 1945 but would not see publication in her
lifetime (she passed in 2001). The third and final volume in the biography is
anticipated.

reports from several Stone-Campbell ministries on the island; recovery will take
weeks, months and in some cases, years to achieve. See the Jamaica profile at http://www.worldconvention.org for
